Theresa has put all the questions you may have on one page, to help you store your cakes and other sweet treats for ultimate freshness. Plus, you'll also find information on freezing, heating and thawing different kinds of products. 

Fridge Storage

All TMF Cake Designs products are best stored in the fridge, but as each cake is different please refer to the specific cake instructions given on the box when picked it is up/delivered.

All products are best enjoyed at room temp and consumed between 3 - 5 days. 

Fresh in the freezer

TMF Wedding and Celebration Custom Cakes are baked fresh which allows you the option to freeze your cake up to recommended time frames below - depending on the type of cake you have ordered.

  • Butter cakes with buttercream are best frozen fresh and can be kept in the freezer for 3 mths. 
  • Mud cakes can be frozen for up to 3-6 mths. 
  • Fruit cakes can be frozen up to 12 mths. 

If you have a Fondant cake, you'll want to follow these instructions:

  • Firstly take all non-edible items off the cake 
  • Wrap your cake carefully in glad wrap and then place it in a container that is airtight. Before closing the lid place 2 layers of glad wrap over the top of the container and then close the lid. 
  • This step is optional (but recommended as an extra layer of safeguard) - Now wrap the whole container in glad wrap 2 times to help keep moisture from entering the container when defrosting. 
  • Place your cake container in the freezer. It's that easy.

Royal and fondant cookies are all placed individually in a heat-sealed bag. If you need to store your cookies before your event they are best stored in a dry, cool environment, away from sunlight. 


  • Cupcakes are best eaten within 3 - 5 days from the time of collection and should be stored in the refrigerator unless other directions have been given to you upon pickup.
  • If you have fondant toppers and you have stored these in the fridge beforehand, take the box from the fridge and leave it on the bench unopened until the cupcakes have reached room temp.
  • Open the box and enjoy. 


Our Macarons are made fresh for all custom orders and are best eaten within 3 - 5 days from pickup. Depending on the filling you choose they are best kept in the fridge in the box you purchased them in away from moisture. When you take them out of the fridge keep them in the box until they have reached room temp. 

If you need to freeze any of the above products, please contact Theresa before doing so. 


As we all know the rule with doughnuts FRESH IS BEST!! We create all our doughnuts the morning you require your order and they are best eaten on the same day. However, if you do happen to have leftovers, we do recommend zapping them in the microwave for a few seconds - they just need a bit of heating up to freshen them back up.
